GAAO Mentoring Program

One of the Goals of GAAO's Executive Board is to create a Mentoring Program for our members. I believe mentoring is a great idea and would provide a key resource for new chief appraisers and experienced chief appraisers who want to review a process or undertake some new program in the office. Mentoring can take the form of a phone call or email to another county requesting help or perspective on a specific problem or issue. It can also entail requesting a visit from one or more chief appraisers or other seasoned appraisers who have a special set of skills or experience.

Counties often get into public relation trouble when attempting to try something new. Frequently, new statewide legislation is the result. This might could be avoided by taking advantage of the experience of other professionals who may have already been down that road.

If you as a chief appraiser are interested in taking advantage of this program, please contact John Scott, Executive Director or Phil Hogsed, Immediate Past President.
